When you have to create a backup of your server, Acronis Backup & Restore is a suitable solution. With so many possible settings, the software can be configured for almost any kind of infrastructe. But enough public relations for Acronis, I haven't got an offer to work for their PR department.
As I just said, there can be configured a lot in Acronis. So I wanted to receive an email when a backup for some reason has gone wrong. Not a very difficult wish, but it took a while before is had it working. Once the necessary parameters were filled in and I sended a test message, Acronis constantly showed the following message:

Of course another great errormessage. And as always, the website referred showed a lot of error codes more ... except the one I got.
To end a long story, the above error (in my case) was caused by a good (wrong in my case) setting in the McAfee virus scanner.
In the image above you just have to check the highlighted circle that has to be deselected. The McAfee scanner was apparently affraid that the Acronis software would function als a mailworm, and hopefully my backup won't be that bad !
When the box was deselected and the settings were saved everything worked fine. Until today I haven't had any email, hopefully the backup will give an error soon, so I can see if it really works ..
